The Society has an Archive covering the years 1971 to 2011 which includes: AGM papers and correspondence; Reports of Meetings, and Outing Reports. The first are the procedural papers of the Society and its Committee. Reports of Meetings are summaries of talks given by invited speakers to the Society. The summaries are written by a variety of people who are/were members of the Society and are their recounting of what was said. The reports are interesting in many ways: they reflect the topics of interest to Society members at the time, they encompass the authors’ individual view of what took place – and the telling is often entertaining in itself – and in several remarkable cases the summaries are in poetry and illustrated – this is the wonderful work of Archibald Howard Gill. Outing Reports record the Society’s visits from Comberton to a variety of places: castles, galleries, museums, factories, etc. As with the reports of meetings these are interesting in similar ways as well as recording places that have changed between then and now and some that are no longer in existence.
